Artist statement:
“Rest in Peace” is a farewell to a legendary and steadfast companion – the Nokia 3310. The enlarged model of the phone, cast in plastic and patinated in its original colors, carries the nostalgic weight of memory, while its “coffin,” crafted from wood and fitted with bronze handles, evokes the final farewell.
The full installation – obituary, flowers, lanterns – blends sculpture, installation, and dark humor, evoking a symbolic goodbye to an object that once shaped our daily lives.
For the opening day, March 6, 2026, a performative farewell will take place in front of the gallery. The audience will witness the symbolic burial of the Nokia 3310 – the last “ring” of a technology that has passed into history.
This work critically examines the relentless pace of technological progress and invites reflection on our relationship with objects that once defined our lives.
