Sail

Artist statement:

The sculpture consists of a single vertical iron rod representing a mast, alongside a piece of a wine barrel stave (a wooden plank from a barrel). Together, these two elements create a clear association with a sail.

The aim of the work was to present a sail through a minimalist approach, reducing it to an abstracted yet still figuratively legible form. By limiting the composition to its essential components—the verticality of the mast and the curved wooden surface of the sail—the sculpture relies on suggestion, allowing space for the viewer’s interpretation.
