Artist statement:
Acrobat is a sculpture born from pure chance and creative adaptation — the bronze casting initially did not succeed as intended, and the fragments that remained after removal from the mold became the foundation of this figure. These unexpected bronze pieces were integrated into the acrobat sculpture and connected with copper wire in a way that suggests the body and its movement, while the bronze elements have been exposed to the elements to naturally develop a patina, showing the marks of time and change.
To give the sculpture a sense of motion and performance, an iron rod rises from the stone pedestal — a reference to the trapeze, the classic circus apparatus on which performers swing and balance in the air. This vertical line becomes an integral part of the sculpture, transforming it into a mobile metaphor for swing, balance, and acrobatic grace.
Acrobat thus combines improvisation and the strength of materials with the conceptual poetry of movement, evoking the spirit of circus performance within a static figure — where the ritual of performance, balance, and inner energy are transformed into a form that hovers between mass and motion.
