Cuttlefish

Artist Statement:

The miniature bronze Cuttlefish is shaped with particular attention to detail and the tactile quality of the form. The sculpture contains a richness of elements—eyes, arms, and lateral fins—executed in a gold-polished surface that evokes an underwater shimmer. Placed on a tall black stone cylinder, the cuttlefish appears to hover above dark depths. The contrast between its small, precisely formed mass and the heavy base creates a sense of tension and elevation. The form and lines of the sculpture follow the fluidity of the marine creature, linking flexibility and gentleness with the idea of hidden life in the depths.
