The eternal question "What came first, the chicken or the egg?" receives a new version. I am opening a different question: What came first, the cow or the udder?
Approximately 4.4 billion years ago, a cosmic mass fell to Earth. This was the Great Udder, the mother of all mammals who nourished all of humanity. Over time, single-celled organisms grabbed onto breasts and began to suckle slowly. This continued for years until the first more complex forms of life evolved.
These first primordial cows were two sisters – depicted in this diptych – who, like the yin and yang symbol, merged into mutual balance. They created the world as we know it today and then became extinct.
You may wonder how I know what they looked like. From discovering their fossils, through DNA analysis, to digital reconstruction, I arrived at these figures. Cast in bronze and aluminum, they are a direct representation of our primordial mothers.
