Artist statement:

This sculpture from the "Ballerinas" series captures a figure suspended in a transitional moment of movement: in a crouching pose, with one leg extended and arms raised into the air. The body balances between grounding and lift, tense yet light. The shellac-coated clay, with its warm, caramel-like tone, emphasizes the softness of the form and the fleeting nature of the gesture, while the iron base with a yellow pipe introduces contrast and dynamism. The work functions as a sketch for a larger iron sculpture from the same series, preserving the immediacy of the process and the energy of the initial idea.
