The solo exhibition "Safari" was held at the Center for Culture Dubrava in the Vladimir Filakovac Gallery from November 10 to December 3, 2025.

HERCEG'S SCULPTURAL/PAINTERLY "SAFARI"“

Through dynamic exhibition activity, Teo Herceg has drawn attention to his artistic work in critical interpretations and the broader cultural public sphere, as well as in notable media coverage. This fact is evident on the contemporary national scene through his solo and group exhibitions, as well as public monumental sculptures—both those executed and those not yet realized but highly valued in public competitions. It is worth noting that the young sculptor has been accepted at referential international exhibitions in London, Barcelona, and elsewhere, where his distinctive artistic characteristics were recognized in this broader context as a valuable exhibition contribution.

Herceg began his own prolific production and exhibition activity immediately after completing his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb in 2021/2022, and over the past three years has achieved remarkable creative output in traditional and contemporary visual media.

It is equally important to note that his creative characteristic, despite being dominant in sculpture, is no less intriguing in the medium of painting and drawing. These facts suggest the conclusion that Herceg expresses himself in three-dimensional and two-dimensional form, which he has precisely demonstrated in this solo exhibition titled "Safari." An exceptionally important component in his visual expression is found in the materials he uses in his sculptural/painterly process: stone, wood, plaster, wax, bronze, concrete, aluminum, iron, and paint.

With the intriguing and popular term "Safari," Herceg has expressed a fundamental characteristic of this thematic cycle, which directly refers to adventure—that is, a challenging and uncertain journey into unknown wild spaces filled with feelings of fear, but also with adventurous longing for discovering new horizons and experiences, various animals and birds, and all other living creatures. Nevertheless, the artist invites us to his own creative safari, through which he intriguingly introduces us into the visual world of his inventive sculptural/painterly solutions.

In fact, Herceg, with this series of works, thematically situates himself within the great animalistic tradition that can be traced from the very dawn of European civilization, as well as in the works of canonical artists by whom the greatest achievements of animal art in sculpture, painting, drawing, graphics, and numerous other contemporary media are valued. The exhibited sculptures and paintings Herceg shaped in 2025, underlining his exceptionally prolific production in both media—in sculpture and painting. Through inventive sculptural method, he has confirmed with new works his already demonstrated sculptural skill in forming and expert use of various materials in visually defining form. For instance, in the sculpture "Djetlić," this is particularly expressed in the synthesis of wood and iron; in the form "Fluidni vol," besides the aforementioned, there is also plaster with which he completed the sculptural fullness of form with color.
