Artist statement:
The piece from the Safari series depicts a relief of a hippopotamus in water, with its head at the surface and its mouth open in a tense roar. It was created by modeling in wax on a wooden panel and left in this material to show the audience the process and the possibilities of different materials.
The sculpture is available for casting in bronze, and I also plan to develop the work further into a final version where the hippopotamus would be cast in bronze while the water would be executed in aluminum, emphasizing the contrast between the body and its environment and creating a dynamic material tension.
Available for casting in bronze
