Tied

Artist statement:

This sculpture from the Safari series was modeled in wax and directly cast in bronze as a unique piece. It depicts a giraffe whose neck is tied in a knot. The work was originally created in a rush, but the legs did not cast properly. From the remaining part of the original cast, I made new legs and decided to bind them with the rope that stands beside the figure.

The entire piece is bronze and is placed on a yellow sandy stone, evoking the savanna. The bronze part contrasts with the yellowish pedestal, as it is patinated darker, resembling old gold.
