Artist statement:
The sculpture from the Safari series depicts my dog named Šubler. Since he is a dachshund, I elongated his body into a meander so that, when viewed from a top-down perspective, he appears even longer. In this sense, it is a light caricature, but when viewed in profile, the figure aligns with the proportions of a normal dog.
The sculpture was built on an iron structure, covered with plaster, and then the entire form was modeled in wax to its final appearance. I left it in this medium because I wanted to bring the audience closer to the casting process – to show how the sculpture looks in wax before casting. However, the piece is available for casting into its final bronze phase.
