Flamingo from the Cover (Diptych)

Artist statement:

In this work, a flamingo is depicted using mixed media in delicate pink and white shades, giving it an elegant and somewhat dreamlike appearance. The flamingo is part of the Safari series, which explores the motifs of the animal world through a contemporary, almost pop-art approach.

The painting is presented as a diptych, composed of two wooden triangles separated diagonally, creating a sense of fragmentation and spatial play. This compositional form challenges the viewer to assemble the image within their own perception, suggesting that beauty and identity may only emerge when the elements are reconnected.

In the background, there are collaged newspapers with humorous sketches and texts, adding a dose of wit and irony to the scene. This contrasts the seriousness of the artistic depiction and the delicacy of the flamingo with the immediate, everyday reality of the media, creating a light sense of satire and entertainment.

The entire piece thus balances elegance and humor, nature and culture, inviting the viewer to smile, but also to reflect on the way we perceive and construct the images of the world around us.
